Memorial Day Camping Trip: Lost Lagoon

We kicked off camping season with a trip to Lost Lagoon. We visited here last year after reading about the RV resort on camping groups on Facebook and knew that we wanted to go back! In March, we booked one of the last camping sites they had available for Memorial Day weekend!
DJ and Adalyn drove down Friday afternoon. The big girls and I stayed behind because Megan had gymnastics, so we drove down when her class ended.
We drove through a downpour of showers the entire way. At one point the road was flooded and there were 6 cars on the side of the road. We made it around 11:30.
Saturday morning, these cuties were up and ready to hit the pool after a yummy breakfast.
DJ is our cook when we're camping. Breakfast Saturday morning was bacon, eggs, and fruit.
After breakfast, we did the dishes, made the beds, and hit the pool!
DJ and I found our spot, and Gretchen layed behind us for a bit while the little girls played in the pool.
Every once in a while the girls would come over for a towel to warm up.
We went back for lunch, and Gretchen and I stayed behind in the camper to clean up. When we went back to the pool, I found the girls and DJ riding around the lazy river having the best time!
That afternoon, the girls were off to get a snow cone. Adalyn came back and her snow cone had a bomb pop too!
Three girls. Three snow cones.
We eventually went back to the camper, had dinner, and then I took the girls to the playground.
They were playing a game where they were yelling out colors, and you had to touch something that was not that color- so if they yelled out blue, your body had to be touching something red or yellow.
Eventually, the mosquitos came out and they were fierce! Thankfully, we had insect repellent wipes with us and they worked so well. At one point, DJ said "I can see the bugs around me, but they're not landing on me." And if that does not sell you then I don't know what will!
Sunday morning we were back at, but this time, the girls played on the Wibit for most of the day!

While the girls played on the Wibit, DJ and I enjoyed some quiet time at the pool before rain settled in.
This girl came to visit us.... and to whine a bit since her big sisters were leaving her out.

Side note- how cute is her Bucee's bathing suit? I feel like you're not a true Texan unless you own some sort of clothing from Bucee's.

By Sunday afternoon, the pool was packed.
Gretchen enjoyed the rope swing.
After dinner, the girls begged to go to the arcade, and came home with the most wrinky-dink toys. I think it taught them a good lesson about saving money and not always spending it ;)
Monday morning, we got up and headed home.... after another Bucee's stop.

Weekend Wrap Up

Happy June and hello crazy busy weekend!

When DJ and I were looking ahead at the month of June we were shocked at how crazy busy we were going to be. It has been a long time since we've been this busy, and I'm not sure either of us are excited about it!

Friday night, I met him at the stadium for a recruiting dinner. Neither of us typically have to attend recruiting events, but the set up was new for the staff and he had to play a film. We left the girls with a sitter, and had a yummy dinner and good conversation.

And the set up was perfect Texas style.

I came home and this girl was happy to see us. She also had received a package in the mail, and it had a mustache sticker, so you know- she had to wear it.

Saturday morning felt so good not waking up to an alarm clock. I slept a bit, and then made a huge batch of French Toast for breakfast. I made extra to freeze so we could take on our big camping trip that we have planned at the end of the month.
Gretchen's dance recital was Saturday afternoon.
She took a lyrical dance class this year and really enjoyed it. Her costume was gorgeous.
DJ couldn't make it because of football camp, but DJ's aunt was in town, so she was able to come and we gave her flowers after the show.
So proud of my not so tiny dancer.
We made it home and I put on pajamas and was planning for a girls night in since DJ had football camp and then he surprised us by walking in the door! I was shocked! And, glad to have him home :) We decided to head out for BBQ and Texas sized margaritas.
So glad that he surprised us and took us for dinner.
Sunday morning, DJ was back at camp, and the girls and I went to church. Afterwards, we headed to Adalyn's last soccer game of the season.
She had so much fun playing this Spring. She's talked about playing again, but it was so hot today that after her game, she said she'd make a decision in the Fall! Ha! She's also talked about horse riding lessons, so who knows.
She got an award for playing this year!

After her game, we had ice cream to celebrate and took a family trip to Costco, where we found a.......
paddleboard!!! I've been wanting one for over a year, but we didn't really have the space, for a large one. Costco had an inflatable one which was perfect! We brought it home, blew it up, and took it to the lake so I could try it out! It was SO much fun! I'm not comfortable standing on it yet, but it was easy to use sitting down and sitting cris-cross. I can totally see myself zenning out and loving the escape! We plan on taking this camping with us bunches and I think the whole family will enjoy using it! And, eventually we'll need to grab another one.

We finished off our weekend with a Texas baseball game (DJ and Megan went) and Adalyn, Gretchen, and I stayed home to get ready for a busy workweek!

Hope your weekend was fun too!

Megan's 10!

Well, she did it.... she went ahead and turned 10.
I'm not sure how this cutie grew 10 years over night, but she did.

We spent all weekend celebrating because her birthday fell on a Monday, which meant DJ and I were both at work, and Megan had 4 hours of gymnastics that night, which left little time to celebrate the day of her birthday.
Saturday night we went to Jack Allen's for dinner.
Her friend was able to come along too! C was our sweet neighbor here, and they recently moved a few streets away, but these girls are the sweetest friends.
They were the best little guests at dinner.
Megan really wanted Jack Allen's because of the epic dessert. We took Gretchen here on her birthday, and Megan remembered the huge dessert and that's all she wanted! She ended up with a double stack brownie with cream cheese and ice cream. So good!
We all took a few bites and she devoured the rest!
We came home and let her open presents.
Pops & Grandma Dee gave her a sweet American Girl travel set with a real working umbrella.
When I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, she didn't really know. She told me she wanted some acrylic paints and needed new paint brushes, but after that she was clueless.
We opted for the paints, paintbrushes, and several craft kits that she could use and paint.
A paint by number, ceramic star, canvases, and a rock painting set rounded out her birthday gifts from us.
These girls crawled in my bed and watched some TV before calling it a night.
Sunday morning, DJ went to get doughnuts and we sang her "Happy Birthday"...... again.
And then she convinced me that she needed a real cake, so we went off to HEB and had cake while C was still at our house.
And we sang her "Happy Birthday".... again.
I have a tradition of taking a picture of the girls on their birthday eves. We had the blow up mattress set up downstairs, and her plan was to sleep on it with Adalyn...... so this is the last picture I have of my 9 year old.
and one with her sleeping buddy.

Because in the morning.... she turned 10!!!!

And if you're wondering, we all sang her Happy Birthday Monday night too!
And looking back, we realized that she's worn the same pj's on every birthday eve from the last 3 years! I'm pretty sure next year, she'll outgrow them for sure!

Happy Birthday sweet girl! We can't wait to celebrate you again on your party day!
