Our Christmas break is already treating us well. We have highly needed some time off and time home and it's already doing our hearts good.
All of the girls had a half day at school on Friday and I debated going in to work and then decided not to, so I let Gretchen stay home. She wasn't missing any exams, and according to her she could choose to watch a volleyball game between the football players and volleyball team or sit in class. She was super excited when I woke her up to double check that she really did want to skip school. After the little girls went to school, Gretchen and I went on a run. Then we spent the morning picking up the house, watching a Christmas movie, and wrapping presents.
The little girls came home around noon, and we didn't do much that evening. DJ had to work, Megan had gymnastics, and we ordered pizza.
Saturday, Adalyn and I ran chores pretty much all day. We had SO much to do.... a Target trip, stopping by the post office, back to the house to get clothes to drop off at the cleaners, stopping by the bakery, and finally, grabbing lunch and lots of samples at Costco while we did some shopping.
I made soup for dinner, then all of the girls showered, and we headed out for a PJ & Lights Night. Each year, the girls get on their pj's, we stop for hot chocolate and drive around listening to Christmas music and eating cookies.
These girls were ready to go!
So many giggles.
This house totally won Christmas.
Adalyn fell asleep in the car, and they all went straight to bed once we went home.
Sunday morning these girls were dressed and ready for church.
After church we went to Bass Pro Shop to have pictures made with Santa. The girls passed the time by writing letters to Santa and coloring pictures.
And of course, we dropped their letters in the mail.
We looked at the boats.
And made the tallest Lincoln Logs tower that we could.
It was so tall! Megan had to stand on the little stool to reach it as it got higher.
Gretchen made a panda face out of these connecting puzzle blocks. These are so cool, and would make a fun last minute gift or be perfect for some open ended play with your kids!
We waited about an hour and a half, and then finally got to meet Santa! I'm really hoping Gretchen will please me a little bit longer by still having her picture made with the big guy!
After our Santa visit, we were starving, so we headed to Jack Allen's for brunch, which is a yummy farm to table restaurant here. We were stuffed when we left!
We spent Sunday afternoon having a Back to the Future marathon, and then we ended our night with a family game night. I ordered Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza for the girls stocking, but pulled it out early and it was SO much fun! We played it twice and the girls wanted to make sure I wasn't going to take it to work to play with my speech kiddos because the girls wanted to be sure they could keep it here at home to play. This would be a super fun gift for birthdays this year!
Today we're doing all the last minute things. DJ has some errands to run, the girls and I are going to do some house cleaning, and we'll be getting ready for Christmas!
We pray that you will have a wonderful Christmas with your family and loved ones. Slow down and enjoy the time and soak in all of the memories.
Merry Christmas friends.
