WIWW on a Thursday

Because my Tuesday night was crazy (Megan was beyond fussy) I didn't get this post up yesterday, so it's What I Wore Wednesday on a Thursday. Let's go with it, m'kay?

We're in a mix of hot and cool. We have days of 90 degrees and then days of 70s. Since I'm back at work, it's cold inside and hot outside. So, my looks vary depending on what the day calls for. 

I picked up this top from Sashy Pants earlier this summer and I love it! It's super soft and cozy, and with the floral detail, it's stylish at the same time. The shirt is sold out, but there are some super cute 3/4 sleeve shirts in stock! My shorts are from Old Navy, and I couldn't find them currently, but these are a cute option. 

This skirt has been my favorite since last spring. I pair it with a simple grey tee from Target and it's a casual look for work or church. 

Ah, fall. Some days it's here and some days its not. This floral sleeve top is also from Sashy Pants, but it's sold out as well. 

I love that florals are making their way in to fall, but they'll be perfect again for this spring!

I bought this dress from J. Crew a few years ago. It's super comfy for work, and I dressed it up with a pair of booties, and a necklace from Paparazzi. 

I shared this outfit from the TU vs. OU game on Monday, and I thought I'd share the deets: My jeans are Vigoss. My TU bling shirt, I bought from Wal-Mart last season, and my sweater is from Gameday Couture.  I bought it our first season at Tulsa and since I only wear it a few times each season, it's as good as new!

And another simple work outfit. My theme for work is obviously comfortable but somewhat dressy. My grey cropped slacks are from Loft, but they're a few years old. I'm a firm believer, that if you purchase a really good pair of dress pants, they'll last for years. Spend your money on a good pair ladies! My Happy Camper tee is also from Sashy Pants. And my wrap is from Evy's Tree. My wrap is super soft and cozy and is the perfect layering piece. I will say, I feel it runs a bit large, but it's been perfect for road trips this summer and being comfortable at work!

A Day in the Life....

It's been forever since I've done a Day in the Life post. Like way over a year. I kept meaning to write one last spring and then I never got around to it, or it just wouldn't be a good day. Last week, I reminded myself that I need to do so. I need to remember what our days are like right now. In this crazy hectic stage of life. One day, I'll miss this stage and it will be fun to remember what life is like right now.

So last Tuesday morning, I woke up (around 6:15) jumped in the shower, and then reminded myself to capture moments throughout our day. 

Around 6:45 Megan usually wanders in to our room. She's sometimes cranky and sometime's she's full of energy. On this particular day, she was crabby, but she had brought her clothes downstairs with her so she could get dressed. She typically does this. I set her clothes out for her, and when she wakes up she brings them down and either gets dressed in our bathroom or in our closet and she makes sure that we "don't look."

I asked DJ to make our bed since I knew I wouldn't have time (I overslept).

While he finished making the bed, I dumped out my make up so I could start getting dressed. Once he was finished making the bed, he went upstairs to wake up Adalyn. He cuddles with her, changes her, gets her dressed, and then he brought her downstairs.

Most days, I'll meet him upstairs so I can fix her hair, but since I was running behind, he brought her down to me. 

We went upstairs and I fixed her hair, and then she asked for a necklace so we picked one out. 

She loves to accessorize with her necklaces. 

While I was getting her ready, DJ was putting his stuff in the car and Addy's stuff. He came upstairs to get her.

We exchanged hugs and kisses, and then they left around 7:15. 

Gretchen finally woke up, but she wasn't in the best mood. 

While Gretchen was waking up, Megan was doodling (she LOVES to draw) and I made her breakfast.

Gretchen perked up and asked for pancakes. 

Around 7:20 or so, I finished drying and straightening my hair and then I had breakfast.

Homemade blueberry muffins and strawberry-banana keifer.

At some point, Gretchen and I argued over what she was going to wear because she had picture day, and then I had a hard time figuring out what I was going to wear.  We finally both decided, I quickly brushed their hair, and we were out the door a little after 8. 

We were running a bit behind.....

Megan insisted on wearing her Doc McStuffins coat, and I didn't fight her, and Gretchen was reading in the backseat like she normally does. 

We arrived at Megan's preschool around 8:20 and walked her in to school.

Gretchen and I made it to school right at 8:30 and snapped a picture before we walked in. 

She heads to class at 8:40, and I start pulling my first speech kids at 8:50. I see kids back to back until 11:00 am and then I go out to recess duty with our kindergarten students. 

At 11:25, we're back inside, and I typically run back to my office to put up my whistle, grab my glass of water, and head to the teacher's lounge for lunch. After lunch, I stop by the cafeteria to see Gretchen and then I head back to my office and start seeing kids again around 12:30. 

I don't finish up with kids until about 3:15, and then the bell rings about 3:40. Gretchen comes down to my office right after school, and we get her changed for ballet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

On this particular day, I went by and picked up Megan before we dropped Gretchen off at ballet. 

We pulled in to ballet and Megan was sound asleep. I dropped Gretchen off for her class, and then I sat in the car and read while Megan slept. It was a piece of heaven. 

Gretchen gets out of ballet around 5:15 so I had to wake up Megan so we could go in to get Gretchen. After that, we swung by Adalyn's daycare and picked her up to head home. 

I fixed the girls a quick dinner, and they ate while I picked up the house, went through their backpacks, and ate.

After dinner, Gretchen started on her spelling homework.

Megan jumped around on the couch and watched Doc. 

Addy was a bit fussy and wanting to be held. 

I managed to get the dishwasher unloaded. 

And then I started diffusing Gentle Baby so the girls could start winding down.

I pulled out some laundry.

And I folded clothes while Adalyn threw a little temper tantrum. 

Her terrible 2s are in full force right now. 

Around 7:20, I took Adalyn up stairs to put her pj's on and read her a book. We typically read, rock, and then she goes right to sleep. 

Once I got her in the bed, I had the big girls put on their jammies, and I started tucking them in around 8. 

I read a book to Megan and we said her prayers. 

Then I headed over to Gretchen's room.

She was trying to do some cleaning up and then she was explaining some great idea she had. 

DJ finally made it home, and we finished getting Gretchen tucked in to bed.

As soon as the girls were in bed, we turned on the t.v. and did this for the rest of the night. 

Typically, I fix the girls lunches (and mine) but they both bought from the cafeteria the next day. 

On a typical day, we sit down around 8:30 to watch t.v. and to relax. Sometimes I'm still trying to get lunches fixed, dinner cleaned up, or doing laundry. 

Around 10, we finally go to bed and start our days all over again!

I try my best to have some sort of schedule, but it's never easy in the fall with DJ being gone so much. Our dinners are usually easy and I don't cook much, the girls get baths every other day, and we have after school activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I still feel like we're trying to get our routine figured out, and by the time we do, football season will probably be over! 

Weekend WrapUp: TU vs. OU

As usual, our weekend started out on Friday morning. I know, technically since I'm a working mom, our weekends don't start on Friday morning, but rather as soon as I get off work Friday afternoons. But, this Friday, I took the day off! Adalyn's daycare was closed for professional development, and since my mom was out of town, and any of our usual babysitters would be in school or at work, I knew I'd have to use a personal day. 

I didn't mind at all, in fact, I was looking forward to having a day with my youngest. Our morning started out pretty typical. I did sleep a little late, got up, and got the big girls dressed since DJ was taking them to school. Adalyn woke up around 7:30, and we got her dressed and ready. Addy and I planned on running errands most of the day. Unfortunately, Adalyn was NOT happy that she didn't get to leave with her daddy and sisters. 

DJ always takes her to daycare, so she was really confused and not happy at all that she was staying home with me. 

I'm not even kidding, she cried for at least 30 minutes. DJ called to let me know that Gretchen forgot her tennis shoes for gym, and since I wasn't getting any cleaning up around the house accomplished, thanks to Adalyn's tears, we headed out to school to drop Gretchen's shoes off. 

Once we got there, I called Gretchen down to my office, and her teacher let me know she had been crying. It turns out, she was sad that I wasn't at school with her, and she was upset that she forgot her shoes, and she ended up forgetting to eat breakfast. So, I calmed her down, gave her her shoes, and gave her a protein bar that I had stashed in my desk drawer.

Addy and I left school and headed to the car dealership to get my oil changed. DJ met us there and picked us up so we wouldn't have to wait around forever. We dropped DJ off at football, and then Addy and I went to run errands. 

We went to Ulta, where her terrible 2 phase continued. By the time we left, she was (and I was) in tears.

We were having a rough morning! I know it's because she was out of her routine, she wanted her daddy, and she couldn't put on every shade of lipstick Ulta had to offer. Plus, I was trying to make her potty often since she was in undies. 

Thankfully, my car was finished up just in time for lunch, so we picked up DJ, went to the dealership, picked up my car, and then Addy and I headed to Qdoba for lunch. After lunch we headed to Carter's, JoAnns, and then on to Target. 

When we got to Target she was sound asleep. I sat in the car for about 20 minutes and then I knew I had to wake her up. 

By the time we got home, I had less than an hour to unload our goodies, before we had to go pick up the big girls from school. 

Once I got them picked up, it was game on crazy. We went to the grocery store, I ordered pizza, I took a quick shower, and I waited on our sitters to arrive. 

I finally left around 7 Friday night and headed to Oklahoma City to meet DJ at the team hotel. About 20 minutes in to the drive, I was caught in a major rain/thunderstorm, and contemplated pulling over and waiting it out. 

I made it to OKC around 9:15, and after a quick glass of wine at the hotel bar, it was time for bed. 

Saturday morning came bright and early. DJ had to leave the hotel by 7, and I had to be ready and downstairs by 8 to leave with the team for the game. 

I totally overpacked, but the weather Saturday was going to be tricky. There was a chance of rain, temps in the 70s, and when I was rushing to pack on Friday night, I didn't have time to really think about what I wanted to wear, so I threw about 3 tops in my bag. I ended up going with my bling TU t-shirt, and a blue TU bling cardigan.

After getting dressed, I headed down to the lobby, and ate a ginormous cinnamon roll before loading the team bus.

We arrived at the stadium close to 9- maybe? I wasn't keeping track of the time....

I had to wait at will call to get my tickets, and once I did, DJ and I met up and he took me in to the press box.

We took a quick picture before I headed back down to the bleachers. 

Life is crazy, but I love our crazy life! We've been through 11 football seasons together, and it's been the best time!

DJ walked me down and we headed out to the field to watch the players warming up.

That's the OU quarterback warming up. 

DJ took this picture of the stadium filled up. There were over 85,000 people there. I have to say, the game was AMAZING! Our boys played great. They played hard. They fought hard. We scored two touchdowns in 14 seconds, and I had hopes of us pulling out a win. 

We invited our friends to come to the game and I sent Gretchen a picture of myself with her BFF. 

After the game, DJ and I drove back to Tulsa. 

I drove while he worked on game film. 

The girls were super thrilled when I walked in the door, and it made the craziness from the day before go away. 

Sunday was pretty uneventful. We cleaned the house, did laundry.... DJ didn't have to work, so he took the girls for ice cream. And we actually had a family dinner together!

We're looking forward to another busy week and thankfully we have a bye-weekend, so we have hopes that DJ will get to spend some time with us on Saturday!

Football Wife Life: We Have Spirit!

Football season is in full force! We're heading in to our 3rd game of the season with a record of 2-0. We're off to a great start! 

Usually this time of year, I break out my fall decorations- my rule of thumb is to do it the first away game of the season, that way DJ doesn't have to be home to endure all the chaos that goes in to re-decorating for each season. This year, in our new house, I decided to change it up a bit. (I'm going to wait a little bit longer to break out the fall- probably the weekend of the 26th....) Rather than jumping in to fall, I thought it would be fun to decorate for that season right in between summer and fall. FOOTBALL.

I've mentioned before that I have this corner nook in our kitchen and I've had lots of fun using it as a seasonal decor spot. My original plan for this space was a baking nook, but it wasn't large enough, and it would be a great coffee spot, but we don't drink coffee. So, now it's just a happy spot that I can use for anything. 

It was decorated when we first moved in, and for back to school, and now it's all about football. 

I used crazy straws, you know since football season is crazy! Especially for us! A little helmet, a jar of blue tissue paper for our school colors, a little football bowl, football napkins, and then I did a little chalkboard sign dedicated to our team.

My mom picked up these football napkins for DJ.

We've had this football dish forever, and I've never been able to use it!

DJ got the little helmet from his convention one year. It's suppose to hold pens, but I thought it was fun for our kitchen decor!
