Wardrobe Wednesday: Anthro

Hey, hey Wednesday! It's so good to see you!

Today, I thought it would be fun to start a new little series called Wardrobe Wednesday!!!

I'll be doing some online browsing and some in store shopping and showing you guys some fun little pieces to add to your wardrobe this fall! Today, it's all about Anthropologie! Now, here's a confession: Until this summer, I had only stepped foot in Anthro one previous time. #gasp! And, now I'm kind of in love with the store! From their little nick nacks, kitchen decor, and clothes. I'm all over it! In fact, I'm sending someone special a little gift from Anthro because I think she would be in love with it too! And, I'm sure that lots of my Christmas shopping for teachers, parents, and in-laws, will be done there this year!

So, here are a few of my Anthro Favorites right now!
This crossover wrap is to die for. I mean, it's a perfect transition piece in to fall. It provides coverage, and I love the shape of the neckline, and the bottom. It's perfect to wear to work, a casual weekend, date night. I mean, I can see me wearing this all of the time!

I love anything that comes in navy. Again, I feel like I could throw this top on with some jeans and sandals... booties in the fall... or wear it to the office, and even a date night. The details along the sleeve and hem line just make me swoon.
I love me a good pair of distressed jeans. And, I can dress them up a little bit, by pairing these jeans with either of the tops above. Unfortunately, our dress code at work, means that these will have to be worn out and about, but they'll transition my wardrobe right in to fall.
This blouse with the rouched neckline, and button back is perfect for transitioning my wardrobe in to fall. Plus, I can wear it to work or out running errands! It's a total win!
And, this is the perfect top for those cooler fall days and lounging on the weekend! I absolutely love the detail of the ruffle on the bottom. Mmm, this makes me want to cozy up with a movie and a good cup of hot chocolate! #falliscoming
I'm typically not a hat person, but if I was, i'd choose this hat from Anthro. It's wool, so I think it's perfect for fall! I'm hoping as my hair continues to grow, and I can figure out the curling iron better, that I can totally become a hat person.
And, I totally love a good dress! This one is perfect for transitioning your wardrobe! Pair it with some fun wedges now, and then booties in the fall! This winter, style it with leggings, and boots, and you're good to go! A tunic dress can transition throughout every season, so everyone needs one in their closet!

Wasn't Wardrobe Wednesday fun!!!! I hope you have lots of great new options to add to your wardrobe this fall!

Recipe: Muffin Edition

We did some back to school baking right before we started back to school! I like to make big batches of muffins and breakfasts foods so mornings are a little bit easier! The girls love having a muffin in the morning, (because it feels a little fresh) and then we pair them with some protein.

I'm going to share two muffin recipes with y'all today! They both freeze very well, and then reheat in a breeze!
First up, Peanut Butter & Banana Muffins. I found this recipe from a Pinterest search, and I didn't pin it! Whoops! But, there are various recipes out there if you google for them.

Here's a recipe from Deceptively Delicious-

You'll need:
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. carrot or cauliflower puree (I left these out)
1/2 c. banana puree (I used about 3 frozen bananas that I let thaw out)
1 c. flour
1 tspn baking powder
1 tspn baking soda
1/2 tspn salt
1/2-1 c. chocolate chips

In a large mixing bow, mix together the brown sugar, peanut butter, and puree. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add about 1/2 c. of chocolate chips.

Place in to sprayed muffin liners and bake at 350 for about 15-20 minutes.

Here's another recipe I found on Pinterest.

Next up, Lemon Blueberry Muffins.

I did find this recipe in the Deceptively Delicious cookbook, but I did have to adapt it a bit.

You'll need:
1/2 c. brown sugar
4 tbspn butter
1 c. lowfat lemon yogurt (I didn't have this, but I did have greek vanilla yogurt, so we used that)
1 c. blueberries
1/2 c. yellow squash puree (I left this out)
1 large egg
2 tspn pure lemon extract (I used about 4-6 drops of Lemon essential oil)
1 tspn grated lemon zest (I left this out)
2 c. flour
1/4 c flaxseed meal (I left this out, but added in some chia seeds)
1 tspn baking powder
1 tspn baking soda
1/2 tspn salt

In a large bowl, beat the sugar and butter. (I used my Kitchenaid mixer) Stir in the yogurt, blueberries, squash puree (if you're using it), egg, and the lemon (again I used lemon essential oil). Add the flour, chia seeds/ flaxseed meal, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir to combine, but do not overmix. Your batter will be lumpy. Divide the batter in to muffin cups, and bake at 350 for about 15 minutes.

You guys, these were crazy good!

The girls have been chowing down on the peanut butter-banana-chocolate chip muffins for now, but when the Lemon Blueberry muffins were baked- oh my, they were heavenly!

Weekend Wrap Up: Football Edition

This weekend flew by! But, I'm ready for the work week, and feeling pretty prepared for what lies ahead of us! This is our first full week of school and afternoon activities

So, last Thursday was our first day of school. We also had family pictures for football.  I haven't had time to make the girls their football shirts for the season, so I pulled together outfits using bits and pieces of what we had. Last year, the girls wore dresses, but this year- we went casual.
The girls did great with our pictures. It took less than 5 minutes, and everyone cooperated! DJ rewarded them with a slice of cake afterwards.
And then we went out for pizza! I'm thinking a pizza night on the first day of school needs to become a new tradition!
We went downtown to Andolinis. We haven't eaten there in a while, but the girls love it! They each received a plate of pizza dough to play with while we waited on our order.
So much fun!

Friday was a school day, and I spent the afternoon in a district wide speech path meeting. After rounding up the girls, we went home and had left over pizza, and veged out. DJ came home around 7, and I was able to sneak out for a little girls night at my friends Sarah's house. I was exhausted, but I really wanted to have some girl time.
Saturday morning, we headed back to football for a scrimmage game.

The girls played with the other coach's kids and had the best time. I was able to chat with the wives, and finally watch some football!
And then the girls checked out the drains, because, you know- all drains lead to the ocean.
And we headed to Tropical Smoothie for lunch.
And all of the girls had cookies!

We made it home, and I tried to get Adalyn down for a nap. Unfortunately, she never fell asleep and it made for a frustrated momma. We've been working on breaking Addy from her thumb sucking, and now her sleep is totally messed up. She never took a nap, but she quickly fell asleep Saturday evening.

We were up and ready for church Sunday morning. I had to take the girls by myself since DJ had to be at the office. After church, the girls played and we headed home for lunch.
Thankfully, Addy did take a nap on Sunday afternoon! It took her about 20 minutes to settle down and fall asleep, but I'm 90% sure that her thumb sucking and ballet baby days are over.

I spent the rest of Sunday doing laundry and cleaning the house.
I made some immune boosting rollers for us, as we're heading back to school. I had two friends whose kids were diagnosed with strep just yesterday, so we're not playing any games with our immune systems this year. I diffused Thieves in the evening, and we'll be applying rollers each night.

DJ came home and made dinner, and I worked on meals for Monday and Tuesday nights. I'm horrible at meal planning and meal prep, so I doubt it will continue, but I feel good that two nights of dinner are already finished and out of the way!

So, that's it for the weekend!

If you're kids are heading back to school today, I'm praying that they'll have a great day!

Friday Favorites: Back to School Edition.

Friday is here again my friends! Can I get an Amen?

Seriously, Fridays are my favorite. Two days ahead of me to decompress and spend time with the girls, and since we headed back to work and school this week- we need it! I went back to work on Monday, and Adalyn started school, and the big girls started school on Thursday. It was our first day with students, and even though I didn't see any speech kiddos, I did help out around the building, and it wore me out! I told DJ that I didn't really do much, but I still had over 9,000 steps when I left for the day.

So, today is Friday Favorites, and I'm linking up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci, and I'm sharing all of our back to school favorite moments!

First up- back to school decorations!
I started decorating our house for back to school last year, and it's a fun little tradition now! Gretchen kept asking me when I would get out the school decorations, and she even helped me decorate! We got everything out around the first of August, but I haven't shared any of the pictures yet!

I try to keep everything as clutter free as possible, but I still like adding in some fun touches for the girls. I picked up this blue table runner when we were in Joplin, Mo at the end of July. The wood tray came from my grandmother, as did the jar.... and the apples. The books were mine when I was a child, and they're still in great shape.
I purchased this little pig from Cracker Barrel and we are using him to help the girls with their table manners. Each night when we have family dinner, the pig starts off on the books. The girls have one warning for good manners- staying in their seat, not complaining about their food, etc. But, on the 2nd time- they're given the pig. If someone else has poor manners, then the pig gets passed to them. Whoever has the pig at the end of the meal, has to help clean off the table and be my clean up helper in the kitchen!

DJ and I joked last night that the pig needs to join us when we go out to eat!
I added a few touches to our kitchen as well. Some Little Golden Books, a new Bible verse, a gigantic pencil (that I found in the Target Dollar Spot), a chalk board sign, and an apple.
The apple banner came from Target's dollar spot too.

Last week, Adalyn had her meet the teacher night.
They had a little photo booth set up for pictures.
I can't believe she's in the 3 year old class now!
She explored her classroom, found her name on the carpet, found her cubby, and was looking forward to starting back to school when it was time to leave.
We also had Megan's meet the teacher night. She found her locker, and has been looking forward to kindergarten!
So, Monday morning, I woke up to head back for teacher training, and Adalyn started preschool. She was excited and ready to go!
We took a few pictures, and headed to school.
Her teacher sent us lots of pictures throughout the day! I love this one of her climbing.
And she did lots of coloring.

My mom came up on Sunday evening and watched the big girls while I was at school. We ended up meeting for a long lunch on Monday, and then I went back for more teacher training before heading to pick up Adalyn.

And y'all, I was tired, and feeling lazy..... but, I needed to get gas. Fortunately, we have a gas station right by our house, so I decided to head home, and that I would get gas first thing the next morning. Unfortunately for me, I ran out of gas about a mile and a half away. I have never ran out of gas before! So, Addy and I pulled over and called my mom.
We took some selfies, and silly photos and she played in the front seat while we waited for my mom to bring us gas. Three young men stopped as well and they were so nice and helpful. I'm so thankful for momma's that teach their boys how to be gentlemen.
And just for grins, I made these little collages of Addy's first day back. This is all of the girls on their first day of the 3 year old classroom at preschool. It's kind of a full circle moment because when we moved to Oklahoma, Gretchen started this preschool in the three year old classroom, and now we are finishing our very last year with Adalyn in the three year old classroom.

I'm so sad that this will be our last year at preschool.
And look at all of Adalyn's first days there!!!! They have been so good to us!
So, after getting home on Monday, we took the girls to the park to play. Gretchen and Megan played sand volleyball with some folks in our neighborhood, and had tons of fun.
Tuesday started with preschool for Adalyn and a teacher work day for me.
I did some cleaning in my classroom (with my Thieves cleaner from Young Living).
And I set up my oils on my desk. Priorities people.

Once that was done, I got to work on the rest of my room!
Wednesday night called for homemade pancakes! Addy was a big helper!
And Gretchen loves pancakes. They are seriously her favorite, and she asks for them all the time! It was the perfect night before school dinner!

We spent the rest of the evening getting lunches together, setting out backpacks, taking baths, and trying to get to bed at a decent hour.
And I put together teacher gifts! I found cute little notepads at Target, as well as these little apple bags, and apple chalkboard tags. I added some oil infused bath salts and sent these with the girls on their first day of school!
Before bed, I made sure the girls backpacks were set out, along with their first day of school gifts.
They found their Rustic Cuff bracelets first thing!
So, last year I bought Gretchen a mommy & me bracelet set, and Rustic Cuff sold them again this year, so I bought a set for Gretchen and myself, and then for Megan and myself. The bracelets come with a poem about the first day of school, and your child can wear it and think of you, as you wear yours and think of her.
My mom gave each of the girls a card for the first day of school.
And then we attempted first day pictures, which didn't turn out so well with the lighting in our living room.
These girls are finally in the same school!
Her first day of 3rd grade! I'm still not sure it's possible that she's in 3rd grade! They grow way too fast! It feels like yesterday that she started kindergarten.
And, this girl started kindergarten!!!!
We took a few pictures outside.
And then a first day of school selfie for all of us!
DJ took Adalyn to preschool on Thursday morning, and then he met us at our school. We walked Gretchen to class first.
At her desk and ready to go!
But not before a few quick hugs!
And then we took Megan to her classroom. She found her locker and put away her backpack.
And then we were able to get a picture with Megan and her teacher. They're going to have the best year!
I'm so thankful that DJ was able to meet us again this year for the first day.
We're ready to start our school day! I say it all the time, but if I have to work (which I do) then at least I'm in a place where I'm able to be with my girls. I get to take them to school every day, see them throughout their day, and then we go home together each afternoon. It's pretty perfect.
I even found this kindergartener in the lunch room!
And look, another picture from Addy's teacher!!!
And, since summer is over, check out our summer bucket list recap here!

Have your kids started back to school? What are some of your first day traditions?

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!!
