A Day in the Life

Every once in a while, I like to capture our typical day in photographs, and share, so we can look back and remember how crazy busy our life was. I know one day, i'll look back and miss these hectic moments, and jammed pack days.

So, while I was planning for the month, a few weeks ago, I picked a random day to capture and share. I randomly chose Tuesday, the 10th, which turned out to be so busy!

My alarm went off at 6:15 am. One of our girls had crawled in bed with us, and since DJ was going to work a little later, I got up first..... around 6:30..... I'm not a morning person and I definitely snooze a few times.
Once I took a shower, I remembered that it was my "day in the life" documentary day, and I set my alarm and snapped this screen shot.

Once I was out of the shower, I went in to switch out the laundry. This year, I'm working on starting a load in the middle of the night (our washer has a timer) and then I just have to put it in the dryer in the morning.
And then it was time to get Adalyn dressed and fix her hair.
Gretchen met us in the bathroom.... she was already dressed, and I fixed her hair.
I love her little style....which is basically a cute graphic shirt, jeans, and boots.... it's totally something I would wear- ha!
And, then Adalyn threw a temper tantrum over who knows what.

Back downstairs, I put some Thieves in our kitchen difufser.
It was time to boost our immune systems before heading off to school.
I fixed breakfast.... this is what Adalyn picked out... yogurt with granola, a slice of cheese, and a fruit strip.

Once the girls all had breakfast, I headed back to the bathroom to put on my makeup.
And then I made the bed.
Back to the kitchen to load the dishwasher.
Addy was almost ready to go.... she had her cup, ballet baby, and kitty.
DJ took over the dishes- yay!
DJ and Adalyn left around 8, and I went in to finish getting dressed, and this is where my morning was a mess, because I had no idea what top I wanted to wear.
I probably changed my top three times, and finally settled on this:
Before heading out the door, I turned on our Roomba, so the floors would get cleaned.
And then I remembered that I needed to set chicken out for dinner.
We made it to work, just a few minutes behind schedule. I turned on my computer, gave the girls a kiss, and sent them off to class.
It was time for me to get to work.

Tuesday mornings, I see two groups in my office, and then I head down the hall to pull students in 5 minute intervals. We do quick speech drills and then they're back in class. I have recess duty for kindergarten, and then it's lunch time.
My lunch was super quick... it tends to be more "snackey" I ate carrots with hummus, and sweet potato tortilla chips, and usually follow it up with yogurt, chia seeds, and just a few chocolate chips.

After lunch, its back to my office for more speech groups and lots of paperwork! I wrapped up my last group a little after 3, and called the girls' teachers because they needed to be checked out..... at the beginning of each semester we have a district wide special education meeting after school.
We made a quick stop downtown at the local chocolate store. Each of the girls chose a chocolate covered marshmallow, and we browsed while they made us Belgium Hot Chocolate. Yum.
DJ was off work early, and he met me to pick up the girls.
And then I sat in our meeting for another hour and a half.

While I was in my meeting, he picked up Adalyn, ran a quick errand, and then went home to make dinner.

I made it home just before 6 and quickly changed my clothes, and took Megan to gymnastics.
DJ kept Gretchen and Adalyn home, while Megan jumped and tumbled.

While she's in class, I walk the track upstairs with another gymnastics mom. We have some of the best talks.

We walked two miles, and then went down to pick up the girls.

Once we were home, I had to go through lunch boxes and folders.
How cute is this little ten frame name paper that Megan did?!
I laughed when she told me "M" is also for "mushroom".
I sat down and had dinner..... a chicken fajita with some chips and queso.
Gretchen and Addy already had on pj's, so after I ate, it was time to tuck the girls in to bed. Adalyn chose her Doc McStuffins Mermaid book (again).
Awe, cuddles before bed!
After we rocked and said prayers, she was in the bed, and then it was Megan's turn....
we read Snowmen at Christmas, and said prayers.
and then I tucked her in.

I said goodnight to Gretchen, gave her a kiss, and went downstairs to do dishes.
And then I cleaned up the kitchen.
Around 9, I sat down to watch some t.v.
After my show, I picked up a few of Adalyn's toys that were on our bed.
Set the washer to start in a few hours.
And got ready for bed.
I'm using the Art Gentle Cleanser to clean my face each night.
And I follow it up with a bit of lavender oil.
And then I set my alarm and finally went to bed.... at 11 pm.

Whew, it was a busy day!!! Tuesdays and Wednesdays are always our busiest days of the week because of after school activities, and that after-school meeting just threw a kink in our day and made it even busier!

  1. I feel like I have the same washer and dryer as you, but the previous owners didn't leave manuals. I wonder if mine has timer too.
I loved looking into a day in your life. I feel like my day is so hectic also
