G's School Conference

G's school had fall break yesterday and today. We also had scheduled parent/teacher conferences.

G is doing so well in her class, so I had to share!

According to her teacher, she is able to:

~ identify ABCs by sight and some of them by sound

~ count 1-10, but skips numbers on 10-20 (which we've started working on. For some reason, 13 and 14 confuse her)

~ She can spell her name and almost write every letter!

~She can identify 10 colors and knows all of her shapes.

~ She has many friends and plays with both girls & boys.

~ She follows directions in class.

~ She usually answers the hard questions and they're almost always right. Her teacher even said that she has to stop calling on G during circle time because she answers all of the questions!

~ She knows that Jesus lives in her heart (which makes this mama super proud!)

~ She said that G has difficulty waiting her turn, but she's doing better with this.

~ She also said that G was like a sponge. She takes everything in and remembers it without working at it. Her teacher told me that she wishes all of her kids were like G! (Which, let's just hope she didn't tell all of her parents that!)

She is able to trace and write a horizontal, vertical line, and a circle. Her squares and triangles, still look like circles though.

She can identify 10 capital letters when she was tested, but I know she can do more, and she can identify printed numbers 1-9.

She's also able to draw a person with arms, legs, head, hair, eyes (with pupils), and nose. And, she's started to draw a belly and belly button, but honestly, it looks like her person has a goatee!

I'm so excited about everything that she is learning in school! DJ and I have thought that she was pretty smart and I just want someone else to be able to foster her skills, as we continue to work on things at home.

We've also been working on sight words, and she can identify: a, the, dad, mom, book, stop, to, I, and sometimes car. We taped these on the back of her bedroom door so she can see them as she's playing and we can work on them some more. We also have her 'read' these words as she sees them in books.

We're so proud of our little 'big one'!
