Easter Celebrations!

Wow! What an amazing Easter weekend we had! Adalyn and Megan were out of school on Friday, so I took the day off to stay home with the girls. Adalyn had her 9 month well baby check up, we had lunch with DJ, and then we had a fun Friday night at home. DJ had to work on Saturday, and after the girls and I did laundry and picked up around the house, we went to the TU spring football game, and that my friends, marked the end of spring ball!!!! Which means, I'll have my husband home from here until two weeks in June and then a four solid weeks in the summer, and I cannot be more excited for him to be home!

After the TU game, we went to eat at Chili's, and then came home for our Easter celebrations.

Adalyn had not had a nap since we were at the game and then out to eat, so as soon as we got home, I put her pj's on her and put her in the bed! 

Then, we got ready to dye Easter eggs! 

The girls stayed clean in their monogrammed ruffle aprons.  

The girls had a great time dyeing eggs, and DJ showed them how to make one with two different colors. They were very impressed.

Afterwards, the big girls got their easter pajamas on, and we tucked them in bed. 

Then the Easter bunny got to work! He put all of the dyed eggs back in the carton and added little bunny ears on them, and he brought the girls "bunny tails" for breakfast, and even set out paper plates and cups, so mommy wouldn't have to cook or clean up! Afterwards, he set the girls' Easter baskets out on the table. 

Adalyn received an egg plate, a fox plate, an owl bowl, a forest cup, three new bibs, and The Very Hungry Catepillar book. 

Megan received an Easter plate, Doc McStuffins bubbles, Doc flip flops, a Bible Stories book, sunglasses, bubbles, and gum. 

Gretchen received an Easter plate, Sofia the First undies, sidewalk chalk, a necklace, bracelet, and two rings, a Sofia the first toy, and bubble gum. 

All of the girls had a chocolate bunny as well. 

Gretchen woke up first on Easter morning, and took a peek at the kitchen table before coming to wake us up, and soon after, Megan woke up. This is the girls in our room waiting for DJ to get the video camera ready. 

They raced to the dining room to find their baskets.

After breakfast, Adalyn finally woke up, and I fed her, and then attempted a picture of all three girls in their Easter pajamas since Adalyn had gone to bed so early the night before.

Then Addy had lots of help digging through her Easter basket!

We gave the girls the ears off their chocolate bunny. 

Then we got ready for church. 

I'm shocked we got this good of a picture with the tripod, and with the girls cooperating! 

Then we tried to get a picture of the girls together outside, and it was an epic fail. 

After church we came home and had left overs for lunch!

Then DJ went outside to hide the eggs while Megan and Gretchen waited inside.

The girls finally got to hunt eggs in the front yard. 

And Adalyn sat near by playing in her Easter basket. 

After all of the eggs were found, the girls sat and looked through their baskets! We hid the eggs that we dyed, and then we hid plastic eggs with money inside.

Once we were finished with our egg hunt and pictures, the girls went to play with our neighbors.

And Gretchen ran off to play with the big girls!

We spent the rest of the afternoon playing outside, doing laundry, playing with side walk chalk, and talking with our neighbors. 

DJ made chicken, baked potatoes, and broccoli for dinner. We sat down to eat, and Gretchen announced that we had to pray before we ate, because it was Easter and it was our tradition. DJ and I joked that it wasn't our tradition (we are so bad about not praying before we eat) and Gretchen announced, "well, it is now!" She prayed the most sincere and sweetest prayer that I have ever heard out of her mouth. She thanked Jesus for dying on the cross and said that we know that Easter is not about all of the eggs, and baskets, and easter bunny, but that it's because Jesus died!

Oh my goodness! Yes it is! She is so right!

After dinner, we had one more egg hunt in the house, and we did our Resurrection Eggs! The girls loved them and loved hearing the story of Jesus' death and resurrection! 

It was the perfect ending to a perfect weekend!
